Hahmoja!Characters! alkaa tiistaina 17.9. Tiistain teema on Paperihahmot, ja pajassa tehdään paperisia hahmoleluja.
Paja on avoinna klo 13:00-16:30.

Monet paperileluharrastajat laittavat lelupatterninsa jakoon nettiin. Paperilelujen tekemistä voi harjoitella esimerkiksi Gus Santomen ilmaiseksi ladattavilla hahmoilla.

Pajassa työskentelemme tyhjillä paperilelupohjilla. Saatavilla on muutamaa erilaista taittelumallia, joihin piirretään/maalataan/tussataan itse suunniteltuja hahmoja. Saatavilla on myös tarrasilmiä, -neniä, -suita ja muita. Pajasta saa vinkkejä myös oman paperilelun taittelumallin suunnitteluun.

Lauantain 21.9. paperipajaan lisä-äksöniä tuovat hahmoartistit, jotka kertovat omista hahmoistaan ja inspiraatiosta niiden taustalla. Pajassa päästään myös näkemään, kuinka hahmoartistit workshoppaavat omia paperihahmojaan. Mahtavaa!
Lauantain paja on avoinna klo 13:30-16:30.

Hahmoja!Characters! starts on Tuesday 17.9. Tuesday’s theme is Paper characters, and we’re going to make character toys from paper. 
The workshop is open from 1pm to 4:30pm.

Many paper toy hobbyists release their paper toy patterns for free download. You can practise your paper toy skills for  example with Gus Santome’s free characters and patterns.

At the Paper character workshop we work with blank paper toy patterns. There will be a few different patterns available on which you can draw and/or paint your character. There will be some eye/mouth/nose stickers available, and you can also cut your own shapes out of the sticker paper. You will also be provided some tips for creating your own paper toy pattern from scratch.

21.9. Saturday’s Paper character workshop will be packed with extra action by our character artists and their speeches about their characters and inspiration behind them. We will also see the artists in action crafting their paper characters. Awesome!
The Saturday's workshop will be open from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.

Hahmoja!Characters! Workshop event 17.-22.9.2013 @ Lasipalatsi/Urban Workshop

Hi! The event is just around the corner! Here's some general info:

• In the Hahmoja!Characters! workshops we design and make characters and character toys out of different materials.

• The event lasts four days, during which one can attend up to seven workshops. The workshops have five different themes and some themed workshops are held more than once.  

• Some of the workshops require signing up in advance. You can find more info about the workshops in the timetable at the bottom of this post. You can sign up at hahmojacharacters@gmail.com. Some of the workshops have a very limited amount of materials so make sure to get yours by signing up.

• Attendance to the workshops includes a 5 euro material cost per workshop. The fee is payed in cash at the venue. Pay with small bills or coins, please! In addition to the materials provided by the workshop you may use you own materials and equipment. The artist speeches on saturday are free! However, note that if you want to attend the paper workshop which is held at the same time in the same place as the speeches  it will cost 5 euros as usual.

• Anyone who is interested in the subject can join. No previous knowledge of the subjects is required. The idea is that regardless of different levels of knowledge anyone can come and bring their characters to life. The only requirement is that you are able to work independently based on instructions once you've received the materials. If you are a little one please come with your own adult. 

• You will gain the most out of these workshops if you work on your characters a bit beforehand, for example make a rough sketch on a piece of paper. The workshops will provide you with ideas and tools for continuing with them and pushing them further. The theme for Helsinki Design week is Teot/Action! You can follow this theme in the workshops by making action heroes, antiheroes, good guys, bad guys; characters who do (impressive) deeds or acts. Is your character an everyday hero or a conquerer of the world or a guy who doesn't want to do anything even though he should? Every action has an impact; think about what it is that your character does (or doesn't). 

• At the workshops we speak Finnish and English. On saturday the character artists will be speaking Finnish mostly.

• The event is located in the second floor of Lasipalatsi: At the both sides of Lasipalatsi building there are doors which have text on them that says "Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto" and "Kohtaamispaikka". Go in, take the stairs to the second floor, you will see the restaurant "Ravintola Lasipalatsi" in front of you, turn and walk in the opposite direction. The workshops are there!

Also UmeToys has inspirational material for small scale sculpting and Dolly Oblongs website will work nicely as an inspiration to many of our workshops.

At the workshop character toys and mascots are made from textile.

Sat 21.9. 10:00-15:00: Character sculpting & 3D-printing demonstration.

At the workshop characters are sculpted from SuperSculpey polymer clay. 3D-printed character’s path from a drawing to a 3D-print is also demonstrated.

At the workshop 3D-printed characters and sculpted characters are customized with paint, decoration, little accessories etc.

Hei! Tapahtuma alkaa ihan pian! Yleistä infoa tapahtumasta:

• Hahmoja!Characters! -workshopeissa suunnitellaan ja tehdään hahmoja ja hahmoleluja erilaisista materiaaleista.

• Tapahtuma kestää neljä päivää, jonka aikana voi workshopata yhteensä seitsemässä eri pajassa. Työpajoissa on viisi erilaista teemaa, joista osa toistuu eri päivinä. 

• Joihinkin työpajoihin täytyy ilmoittautua ennakkoon. Ilmoittautumisesta mainitaan aikataulussa (aikataulu lisätty postauksen loppuun). Ilmoittautua voi osoitteeseen hahmojacharacters at gmail.com. Joihinkin pajoihin on varattu hyvin rajallinen määrä materiaaleja, joten varmista omasi ilmoittautumalla.

• Pajoihin osallistuminen maksaa 5 euron materiaalimaksun verran per työpaja. Maksu maksetaan paikan päällä käteisellä. Pieniä seteleitä tai kolikoita, kiitos! Pajassa tarjolla olevien materiaalien lisäksi voit halutessasi käyttää omia materiaalejasi ja välineitäsi. Huom. Lauantain artistispiikkien kuunteleminen ei maksa mitään. Samassa tilassa samaan aikaan pidettävään paperiworkshoppiin osallistuminen kuitenkin maksaa em. 5 euroa.

• Periaatteessa jokainen aiheesta kiinnostunut voi tulla workshoppaamaan. Sinulla ei tarvitse olla kokemusta pajojen aiheista ennakkoon. Idea on, että erilaisista lähtötasoista huolimatta jokainen voi tulla herättämään hahmonsa eloon (jokainen niistä tyypeistä on tärkeä!) Ja jokainen lopputulos on varmasti erilainen. Ainoa vaatimus on, että osaat toimia itsenäisesti kun olet saanut materiaalit ja ohjeita tekemiseen. Jos olet ihan pikkuinen, tule oman aikuisesi kanssa.

• Saat työpajoista eniten irti, jos etukäteen vähän mietit ja hahmottelet hahmojasi paperille. Pajoista saat ideoita ja välineitä siihen, kuinka voit työstää niitä eteenpäin. Helsinki Design Weekin teema on Teot/Action!, ja työpajoissa voi seurailla tätä teemaa luomalla toimintasankareita/antisankareita/hyviksiä/pahiksia; tyyppejä, jotka “tekevät (vaikuttavia) tekoja”. Onko hahmosi arkipäivän sankari vai maailman valloittaja? vai tyyppi, joka ei halua tehdä mitään, vaikka pitäisi? Kaikki teot vaikuttavat jotenkin; mieti, mitä hahmosi tekee (tai ei tee).

• Työpajoissa puhutaan suomea ja englantia. Lauantaina hahmoartistit esiintyvät pääosin suomeksi. 

• Tapahtumapaikka on Lasipalatsin toisessa kerroksessa; Lasipalatsin molemmin puolin ovat ovet, joissa lukee “Helsingin kaupunginkirjasto” ja “Kohtaamispaikka”. Mene sisään, kävele portaat ylös toiseen kerrokseen, näet edessäsi Ravintola Lasipalatsin, kävele vastakkaiseen suuntaan. Siellä on workshop!

Voit etsiä ideoita ja inspiraatiota esimerkiksi seuraavilla Googlen kuvahauilla: character toys, sculpted toys, paper toys, plush character toys, DIY vinyl toys, custom toys, vinyl stickers. Esim. Umetoysin duuneista voi ammentaa muovailuinspiraatiota ja Dolly Oblongin sivuilta saa inspistä moneen pajaan. 

Seuraavissa postauksissa on pajakohtaista lisäinfoa, sponssijuttuja ja artistiesittelyjä. Pysy mukana!

Tapahtuma-aikataulu:

Tiistai 17.9. klo 13:00-16:30: Paperihahmot. 

Työpajassa tehdään hahmoleluja paperista.

Torstai 19.9. klo 12:30-17:30: Pehmohahmot. 

Työpajassa tehdään kankaisia hahmoleluja ja maskotteja.

Lauantai 21.9. klo 10:00-15:00: Hahmojen muovailu & 3D-tulostus-demo.

Työpajassa muovaillaan hahmoja SuperSculpey-polymeerimassasta. Samalla demonstroidaan hahmon matkaa piirroksesta 3D-tulosteeksi. 

Työpajaan pitää ilmoittautua ennakkoon!

Lauantai 21.9. klo 13:30-16:30: Paperihahmot.

Työpajassa tehdään hahmoleluja paperista.

Lauantai 21.9. klo 14:00 -> Hahmoartistien spiikkejä hahmosuunnittelusta ja hahmoista.

Vapaa pääsy.

Lauantai 21.9. klo 16:30-19:00: Piirroshahmot ja tarrat. Työpajassa piirretään ja maalataan hahmoja. Hahmoista tehdään vinyylitarroja, joita voidaan painaa kangaskasseihin, T-paitoihin tai muihin tekstiileihin.

Työpajaan pitää ilmoittautua ennakkoon!

Sunnuntai 22.9. klo 11:00-15:00+:  Do It Yourself / Hahmojen customointi. 

Työpajassa customoidaan 3D-tulostettuja hahmoja ja SuperSculpeystä muovailtuja hahmoja (sisältää mm. maalaamista, koristelua ja askartelua).

Työpajaan pitää ilmoittautua ennakkoon!

Sunnuntai 22.9. klo 15:00-19:00: Piirroshahmot ja tarrat. Työpajassa piirretään ja maalataan hahmoja. Hahmoista tehdään vinyylitarroja, joita voidaan painaa kangaskasseihin, T-paitoihin tai muihin tekstiileihin.

Työpajaan pitää ilmoittautua ennakkoon!
